After successfully inserting your chosen form, you have the flexibility to customize its fields to collect specific information. Additionally, you can easily view and manage all messages received through your forms directly within your WordPress.com dashboard.

???? Important Note: If you find that the Form block is missing from your editor, it's highly probable you are operating a self-hosted WordPress.org website. To enable the Form block on your site, simply install the free Jetpack plugin.

Utilize Premade Form Layouts

Leveraging block patterns provides an efficient way to integrate aesthetically pleasing and professionally designed form layouts into your WordPress.com site. To search for and insert a predesigned form layout into any page, post, or template, follow these instructions:

  1. Click the + (block inserter) button, located either in the upper-left corner of the editor or wherever it appears within your content.
  2. Navigate to the “Patterns” tab.
  3. Browse through the available patterns or use the search bar by typing “form” to quickly find relevant layouts.
  4. Select your preferred form layout with a single click to insert it directly into your page.
  5. Customize the fields and all other content elements within the newly added form pattern according to your specific needs.
  6. Adjust various settings, such as including placeholder text within form fields and configuring the email subject line for received submissions.
  7. Always preview your changes to ensure everything looks correct before clicking the “Publish” or “Save” button to make your form live.

Configure Post-Submission Actions

You have the ability to define specific actions that occur immediately after a visitor successfully submits a form on your website. To configure these post-submission behaviors, follow these steps:

  1. Access the List View, which can be found in the top-left corner of the editor and is represented by an icon resembling three horizontal lines stacked vertically.
  2. Within the List View panel, locate and click on the Form block to select it.
The Form block is shown selected in List View.

In the Form block settings, which are located on the right sidebar of your screen, click on “Action after submit” to reveal the available options for post-submission behavior:

You can choose from the following distinct options to determine what happens after a form is submitted:

  • Text: Display a personalized custom text message to the user. Here, you can modify the default message (e.g., “Your message has been sent”) and decide whether to show a summary of their submission (“Show summary“). You can also include a “Go back” link, allowing visitors to easily navigate to the previous page.
  • Redirect link: Automatically send users to an entirely different page on your site, or to any external website, immediately after they submit the form.

Once you have configured your desired post-submission action, click the “Publish” or “Save” button at the top of the screen to apply your changes.
